Coming To Monrovia
The announcement was made by the Mayor in the recent State of the City Address.
Tonight, not coincidently, is a new episode of California's Gold in which Huell Howser gets exclusive access to In-N-Out stores and headquarters. Check your local listings for times and stations.

Minor Slide Area
The trails in Monrovia Canyon Park held up very well in the rains of a little over a week ago. This was the worst of the damage and you can see that the trail had already been repaired by the time this photo was taken last Monday. A section of the slope above slid down and left a mound of dirt about 5 feet high blocking the trail. The trail at this point used to be more or less flat, now it has a definite rise to it from the left over dirt.

Monrovia High School Front Entryway
The front doors are fenced off at the moment due to the work being done on the building. The bottom of this photo starts just above the fence line. This was taken the first clear day after the recent storms. The exterior is freshly washed from the rain and basking in the late afternoon sun.

Monrovia Canyon Park Volunteers Recognized By The City Council
Last night, at the City Council meeting, two of Monrovia Canyon Park's finest were recognized by the City Council for the huge amount of hours and work they've given to the park over the years. On the left is Gabby Gresheck, AKA the face of Monrovia Canyon Park and a favorite of the park visitors. On the right is Ed Cunningham, someone I'm lucky enough to get to work with every week, and the guy that can do it all - and then some. Congratulations!

City Daily Photo Theme Day: Best Photo Of The Year
I don't know about the best, but it was certainly the most popular when I first posted it back on September 1st, 2009. This is a pyrocumulus cloud over the huge Station Fire we had in our local mountains. Just to keep things interesting, I reprocessed the image and made it a little less dramatic this time.

Small Storm Expected
Look at all those trees. The Monrovia Canyon Park cabin is nestled down in there somewhere.
Possible a few sprinkles expected. Some haze today visible right across the center of the photo.

January 2010 City Daily Photo Theme Day: Changes
Lots of changes taking place in Monrovia these days. Some of the new construction taking place at the high school is shown above. Around town, new businesses have recently opened and others are soon to open. Popular businesses have also closed. The new library opened and has become very popular. One of the largest projects is the new retail / office / apartment development on Myrtle Ave. due to open early this year.
Happy New Year Everyone!!!
