Monrovia Canyon Park Closed For 4th of July Weekend

Monrovia Canyon Park is closed through the 4th of July by order of the Fire Department.  That includes bicycles and pedestrians, not just cars.

The park will be back to normal on Tuesday, July 5th.  Remember, normal for Tuesday is still closed to vehicles.  Gates back open for vehicles on Wednesday, July 6th.

Gee, that's too bad. Seems like when people are off (on holidays) is when they are able to enjoy a picnic or hike. Cities are getting way to nanny-like. If they can't manage the park, give it to someone who can.

I think you just have to see a park after the devastation of fire, which can happen so quickly is probably good reason to be careful, especially with so many arsonists around, we have a huge problem here in Australia.

Steve: Seems counterintuitive, doesn't it? Then again, people will bring fireworks into the hills given half a chance. Don't know of an ideal solution here.

PerthDailyPhoto: We had the largest fire in L.A. County history not quite 2 years ago. Monrovia and this park escaped unharmed but it could easily have gone the other way.
