March 13, 2017: Since I started Gem City Images way back in 2007, the photos posted here have been (almost) exclusively of Monrovia. All my other photos have been posted to various social media sites like Flickr, Instagram and Facebook.

While that seemed like a good idea, in reality it led to a lack of consistency that was frustrating for me and made it hard to follow along with the latest photos.

So, starting now, Gem City Images will no longer be exclusively Monrovia. If you still want to see Monrovia only, you can always click the "Monrovia" label on the right side but hopefully you'll follow along for the whole experience.

Even though Gem City Images refers to Monrovia, I decided to keep that as the blog name. No matter where I go, The Gem City is where it all started.

Old Town Bistro Patio

Looks like the yet to open Old Town Bistro might have a nice little patio at the rear of the building.  The photo above was taken in the morning as the patio catches the early sunshine.  It also has strings of lights overhead  for the evening.

I saw the front of the soon to be bistro the other night...I am looking forward to it opening. Whatever happened to Nikki C's opening in the old yogurt store across from the movie theater? The sign is gone, nothing happening in that space.

Steve: I'm looking forward to it opening also. Hopefully soon.

What was going to be Nikki C's is now going to be Sena (Sena on Myrtle?). Same spot. I recently had an anonymous comment that Sena is owned by the same group that owns Nikki C's. Don't know if that's true but it would explain the switch. Anon also said it should open in 4-6 weeks.
