Fountain To The Falls Race And Monrovia Fire Department Pancake Breakfast - May 13, 2017
A beautiful, slightly overcast morning for the annual Fountain To The Falls race.
The runners start at the fountain in Library Park, run to the waterfall in Monrovia Canyon Park, then return to the fountain in Library Park. Round trip is slightly under 6.4 miles, first half all uphill.
The start of the race at 7:00 am.
The runners and walkers heading up Myrtle Avenue just after the start of the race. Heading for the hills up ahead.
The first runner to cross the finish line at an unofficial time of 44m 30s.
The first female runner to cross the finish line at an unofficial time of 49m 53s.
A block south of the finish line was a health fair with several booths / organizations.
Lots of activity in Library Park before and during the race.
A couple blocks away at Fire Station 101, the annual pancake breakfast was getting underway. I took this photo early before there were many people, but the aroma of pancakes was already in the air.
Fire trucks moved out to the street to make room for seating at the pancake breakfast. A Highway Patrol vehicle and an L.A. County Lifeguard truck were also on hand.
