Covina Bowl: 1956 - 2017

The Covina Bowl, open since 1956 and a wonderful example of mid-century architecture has closed for good.  The last day was supposed to be March 12th, but fans showing up found nothing but locked doors on that Sunday.

Maybe these things go in cycles, I bowled in junior leagues when I was a kid and had a great time.  Bowling just doesn't seem to rank very high anymore on what people want to do with their spare time. 

If bowling should come back into favor, it will be too late for this Googie beauty.

Sunset during the last week the Covina Bowl was open.  Unfortunately, the neon in the sign no longer worked.
