Delgado Brothers plus one of the Banda Brothers from the 2011 event.
The 2nd annual Monrovia Cinco De Mayo Multicultural Arts and Music Festival is coming up this Sunday, April 29th, in the heart of Old Town Monrovia (Myrtle and Colorado).
The event will again feature food, art, dance, culture, entertainment and lots of music (including the Delgado Brothers above) and will run from 12 noon to 9pm.
This year there is also a food drive to benefit the Foothill Unity Center. Please bring a canned or non-perishable item with you to the festival to donate.

Stan Ridgway At Berdan Records Grand Opening
Stan Ridgway and his wife, Pietra Wexstun, performed at the grand opening of Berdan Records. The store is located at 110 W. Olive Avenue in Monrovia (Corner of Myrtle and Olive).
Stan and Pietra put on a great show. Even though I've seen them before and know how good they are, I'm always knocked out by how good they are. If you get the chance to see them live, do it.
Berdan Records sells strictly vinyl records, both new and used. I'm looking forward to see what they've got planned for book signings and more live in store performances. Check out their website - http://www.berdanrecords.com/ - to see what they're all about.

Painted Utility Box At Huntington Drive And Magnolia Avenue
A new addition to the painted utility boxes around town. This one is outside the 3 Day Suit Broker at Huntington and Magnolia. Because of the location, I'm guessing those are flowers from a magnolia tree?

In-N-Out Sign At Former Acapulco Location
Saw this sign up over the entrance to the recently closed Acapulco restaurant location on Huntington Drive.
My guess is that they'll tear down the current building and start fresh. What a great location. I'm not sure I'll believe it until I see those signature crossed palm trees out front.
UPDATE: Yes, an April fools post on April 1st. No In-N-Out sign on the building, never was.
But...the number of views this post got in a short time, and on a Sunday, surprised me. So, In-N-Out, keep looking for a spot in town. There's a LOT of interest in having a Monrovia location.

April 2012 City Daily Photo Theme Day: Cobblestones
Since I can't think of any cobblestone lined streets in Monrovia off the top of my head, I'm going to go in a different direction. Cobblestone, coincidentally, just happens to be the name of the very first magazine to pay for and publish one of my photos. Way back in the May/June 2009 issue pictured above.
Since the City Daily Photo website is down at the moment, Julie at Sydney Eye created a special page for this month where you can see how other photographers from around the world interpreted the theme of "Cobblestones". Click here for the temporary theme day page.
