Monrovia Historical Museum In Black And White

Three out of the last four photos have been from Recreation Park.  The path photo from 7/28 is directly behind this museum, the baseball field from 7/30 is just beyond the path.

Lone Desk

Two versions of the same scene. This, like Monday's photo, was also taken at Clifton Middle School.

I posted both because I can't really decide which one I like better. I'm leaning toward the first (top) photo, which one do you prefer?

West Side Of Library Park

Here's a photo of the area behind the new library.  This area is still fenced off and unfinished.  With the new library set back much farther on the lot than the previous library, the bandshell (far side, center of photo) sits at a rather odd angle now.  I wonder how that will play out.  I'd hate to see it torn down.

Half Block Of Myrtle Ave.

Trying something a little different.  I wasn't sure how this would turn out but at the very least it could serve as a nice piece of recorded history for future Monrovians.

This is a panoramic shot of half a block in Old Town Monrovia from the Box Jewelers clock to the left (north) to Colorado Blvd. to the south (right).

The businesses pictured from left to right: Empty (formerly Boxx Jewelers), Mediterranean Spinners, Christian Science Reading Room, House Of Windsor, Tobacco Road and Newstand, The Monrovia Restaurant.

Sky In Black And White

Obviously not a recent photo.  This was taken back in January looking south over the city from Canyon Park.

Well Fed And Angry Rattlesnake

Came a little too close for comfort to this rattlesnake yesterday.  He had recently eaten (the body is much larger on the right side about midway) and had his rattle up and shaking like crazy.  He wasn't happy to be disturbed but finally went down the slope and let us continue.

Shadow Monrovia In Black And White

If this photo looks familiar, it should. I posted a color version last week. I just really liked the way it looks in black and white, so I decided to post this version also.

Monrovia Train Depot Panorama

I've posted bits, pieces and angles of the train depot many times and thought it was time to give a more overall view of what the place looks like.  This is the north side of the entire depot (I was facing south to take the photos).  Myrtle Ave. is to the left of the image, the railroad tracks and Nu-Way car wash are behind the building.

Not crazy with how the sky turned out but I since I hand held the camera for the five shots that make up this panorama, I wasn't expecting perfection.

Be sure to click the image for a larger view.

Checkerspot Butterfly

A companion to the photo posted yesterday.  I believe this is a Checkerspot butterfly, but feel free to correct me.

Butterfly

I missed the recent butterfly count in the hills above Monrovia so my identification skills are lacking.  I'm going to say this is a Swallowtail butterfly.  Can anyone confirm or identify this butterfly?

Shadow Monrovia

Another shot of the Monrovia Train Depot.  This one has a completely different feel from the photo posted for Theme Day.
